NRQBC Scholarship

The Navarre Raiders Quarterback Club is proud to invest in the future of our student-athletes.

Each year, the NRQBC awards two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who have been part of the Navarre football program and who have demonstrated commitment in the classroom, in their community, and through their personal growth.

Our goal is to recognize students not just for what appears on a stat sheet or transcript, but for the character, effort, service, and experiences that have helped shape who they are.

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded annually.

Scholarship recipients are selected by the NRQBC Scholarship Committee using an established scoring system designed to make the process consistent, fair, and transparent.

Applicants must:

• Be a current graduating senior at Navarre High School
• Have participated in at least one season of varsity football during high school
• Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Plan to attend an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school following graduation
• Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher or coach
• Complete and document at least 25 hours of community service

Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements allows a student to apply but does not guarantee a scholarship award.

Each completed application is evaluated using the following criteria:

Weighted GPA — 25%

Community Service — 25%

Community service scoring includes completion of the required 25 hours as well as the quality, involvement, commitment, and impact demonstrated through the applicant’s service activities.

Years in the Navarre Football Program — 10%

Letter of Recommendation — 20%

Scholarship Essay — 20%

Applicants are also asked to indicate whether they have earned Iron Raider recognition and, if so, how many years they received the honor.

We want to learn something about applicants that numbers and statistics cannot tell us.

Applicants will respond to the following prompt:

“Tell us about something you are proud of that would not appear on your transcript, résumé, statistics, or awards.”

This is an opportunity to share a personal experience, responsibility, challenge, act of service, accomplishment, relationship, moment of growth, or something else that has meaning to the applicant.

There is no single “right” answer. The goal is to give the Scholarship Committee a better understanding of the person behind the application.

Recommended essay length: 500–750 words

A complete scholarship application must include:

• Completed NRQBC Scholarship Application
• Documentation showing current weighted cumulative GPA
• Community service documentation
• At least one letter of recommendation
• Scholarship essay

Applicants should carefully review their application before submitting it. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

Applicants must complete at least 25 documented hours of community service.

Service may be completed through schools, nonprofit organizations, churches, youth organizations, community events, athletics, service projects, or other qualifying opportunities.

All hours must be documented and verified by a responsible adult or representative of the organization where the service was performed.

The Scholarship Committee considers not only whether the 25-hour requirement has been met, but also the applicant’s level of involvement, responsibility, consistency, initiative, and impact.

Applicants must submit at least one recommendation from a teacher or coach who can speak to the student’s:

• Character and integrity
• Leadership
• Work ethic
• Responsibility and reliability
• Personal growth
• Community involvement

A thoughtful recommendation with specific examples is encouraged.

2. Gather all required supporting documents, including your GPA documentation, community service verification, recommendation letter, and essay.

3. Submit the complete application packet by the published deadline.

 How many scholarships are awarded?

The NRQBC awards two scholarships of $500 each annually.

Do I have to play football in college to qualify?

No. The scholarship is designed to support graduating members of the Navarre football program as they pursue their next step after high school.

What types of schools qualify?

Applicants may plan to attend an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school.

Do I need exactly 25 community service hours?

Applicants must have at least 25 verified hours to meet the scholarship requirement.

Completing more than 25 hours does not automatically result in a higher score. The Scholarship Committee also evaluates the applicant’s involvement and the quality and impact of the service performed.

Does being an Iron Raider earn additional points?

Iron Raider recognition is included on the application as additional information about the applicant’s involvement and accomplishments within the Navarre football program. It is not a separate weighted scoring category.

Who should write my recommendation?

The recommendation must come from a teacher or coach who can provide meaningful insight into your character, work ethic, leadership, responsibility, or community involvement.

What should I write about in my essay?

The essay should answer:

“Tell us about something you are proud of that would not appear on your transcript, résumé, statistics, or awards.”

Choose something personal and meaningful. The strongest responses will help the committee understand something about you that they could not learn simply by reviewing your grades, statistics, awards, or activities list.

When will recipients be announced?

Scholarship recipients will be notified after all eligible applications have been reviewed and scored by the NRQBC Scholarship Committee.
